Uploading files to your web site with FTP

FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is used to transfer files over a network, such as the internet.
The files and images of a website are stored on a computer that acts as a server. Web hosting companies have many arrays of servers. HTML, images, css, javascript, and so on are transferred via FTP from your computer to the hosting server. Most developers achieve this with a FTP program running on Mac, PC and other platforms, such as Fetch (Mac) and SmartFTP (PC).
