Transferring data securely across the internet

Most data from web pages on the internet are transferred to your browser without any encryption. This is because regular web pages do not have sensitive information, mostly benign content and images. When you are filling a web form, however, the data is indeed sensitive. Your personal information, especially you financial and credit card information should not be disclosed to anyone except who they were intended for.

Data transfer security in such situations is handled by SSL certificates ( Secure Socket Layer). The data you send by submitting the form is encrypted before it is transferred through the internet. You can detect the SSL on websites when you see https:// in the URL address field in your browser.
